Sickle Cell Anemia

Sickle cell anemia is an inherited disease. People having sickle cell anemia tend to inherit two copies of sickle cell genes; one from each parent and these two copies of sickle cell gene trigger the body to produce abnormal hemoglobin. The human body produces abnormally shaped red blood cells, often in the shape of a sickle (crescent shaped).
